    Human Resources Officer

    About the Job

    Summary

    • Reporting directly to the HR Operations Manager, the HR Officer will partner with Hotel Leadership, associates and external stakeholders to deliver an HR Generalist function. The successful incumbent is to ensure HR services are executed in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with Marriott International standard operating procedures and local labour law.

    Required experience, skills & qualifications

    • Tertiary Qualification in Human Resources, Organisational /Industrial Psychology
    • 3 years’ experience in a similar position within a Hotel environment
    • Familiar with all HR Related legislature and amendments (LRA, BCEA, EEA, SDA, OHSA, COIDA)
    • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in particular)
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, an active listener, with strong negotiation and presentation skills
    • Experience in IR management and disciplinary processes
    • Project a positive attitude.
    • Strong planning, administrative and organizing skills to meet deadlines.
    • Should be flexible and able to work in a multi-tasking role.
    • Should be able to work independently (with minimum supervision) and must work well in a team.
    • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per company standards
    • Ability to use Initiative and be proactive and self-motivated

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Effective business partnering with stakeholders/management and associates.
    • Be an overall support to the HR Operations Manager/ HR Department
    • Nurture a positive working environment
    • Monitor the performance appraisal system in collaboration with the HR Operations Manager
    • Competency to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationship at all levels of the company
    • Assist, coach and support business with HR practices and processes
    • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and retention of human capital
    • Assist with the implementation of HR Initiatives into business as and when required
    • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process as per the hotel grading table
    • Assist in the administration in relation to disciplinary practices. Coordinate and consult with Labour Lawyers. Advise on discipline and performance management.
    • Representation of the Company at the CCMA and the Labour Court
    • Assisting with Co-ordination of the Consultative Forum (EE Committee)
    • Assist with preparation and completion of the annual BBBEE audit
    • Coordinate training interventions and facilitate training session as required ( i.e. Company Induction)
    • Assist associates with accessing online training portals
    • Ensure departmental meetings are held in accordance with company policy
    • Maintaining HR compliance
    • Ensure that the grievance procedures are communicated to all staff and that it is followed
    • Maintain the master database of all job descriptions within the company
    • Ensure HR System is kept up to date
    • Maintain employee handbook and uniform standard
    • Conduct scheduled, structured, on-site HR audits
    • Assist in TakeCare, associate wellness activities
    • Ensuring POPI Act is followed
    • Maintain positive relationships with the leaders of the property
    • Review policies and procedures within Human Resources to keep the department relevant and innovative
