    Head of Marketing

    Purpose of the Position

    • To define the marketing strategy for SuperSport and guide the implementation thereof
    • Develop and manage all aspects of the marketing function.

    Strategy Execution

    • Formulate and Implement an on-air marketing Strategy
    • Develop and implement creative, advertising, media and promotional campaigns for SuperSport channels
    • Develop and drive a content marketing strategy and roadmap; determining key priorities and investments based on marketing leading practice
    • Ensure successful execution of Marketing strategies for SuperSport

    Operational Delivery

    • Develop and manage creative marketing initiatives in support of organisation's range of activities
    • Align the organisation internally around marketing, brand, and customer objectives
    • Guide and direct the development and execution of through-the-line marketing communications across all touchpoints
    • Manage advertising agency and marketing consultants
    • Guide and direct the design, development, and deployment of campaigns to specific markets
    • Monitor and report on the performance of marketing campaigns and initiatives on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis, and ensure that these are designed, developed and launched within the given time-frames
    • Ensure consistent brand messaging across the organisation to optimize ROI and brand health
    • Together with Multichoice Customer services identify new markets for potential growth and understand potential growth estimates and growth drivers for those territories
    • Rigorously monitor Marketing performance against approved budgets and put measures in place to address variances; Continuously identify areas for improved efficiency
    • Manage annual budgeting and forecasting exercises.
    • Benchmarking
    • Constantly scan the market in order to identify, share and embed leading practices within MultiChoice, helping to build a world class marketing organisation and maintain market relevance
    • Identify key segments to target, including rationale/strategic objectives, and use customer insights to perform cluster analysis; classifying customers into segments based on spending, behavior, needs and attitudes 

    People Management

    • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informal coaching
    • Encourage frequent knowledge-sharing between team members
    • Determine and analyze development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed
    • Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements are met
    • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members and resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required
    • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognized
    • Provide regular constructive feedback on the performance of individual team members

    Qualifications Essential:

    • Post Graduate degree in Marketing/Commerce/Business Management/Related Field
    • An MBA would be advantageous

    Experience

    • A minimum of 10 years experince in a commerce, business administration or sales and marketing leadership role
    • Detailed commercial and financial acumen, balanced with creative flair
    • Proven experience in People Management
