    Head Business Development - Selby

    You will engage with the following stakeholders:

    • Internal
    • All departments
    • External 
    • Regulators
    • Vendors
    • Customers
    • Industry associations (e.g. Pasa, SARB etc)
    • Schemes (e.g. Visa, UPI etc)
    • Payment Facilitators (Fintechs and Payment Aggregators)

    Your key responsibilities include:

    • Strategy Development: Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies aligned with the company's objectives and growth targets. Continuously assess market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities
    • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients, industry trends, and emerging markets. A nalyze data to generate insights that inform decision-making and strategy development
    • Client Relationship Management and Consulting: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Work with customers to understand needs and curate solutions that can be subsequently offered
    • New Business Acquisition: Lead efforts to acquire new business opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, and lead generation activities. Develop compelling proposals and pitches tailored to the needs of prospective clients
    • Partnership Development: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with complementary businesses, technology providers, and industry associations to expand the company's reach and capabilities. 
    • Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, mentor, and motivate a high-performing business development team. Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to help them achieve individual and collective goals.
    • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of business development activities. Regularly review and analyze performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other departments, including marketing, product development, and finance, to ensure alignment and integration of business development initiatives with overall company objectives.

    QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE

    • Relevant and required computer literacy capability
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot). 

    EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in Banking, Payments  and the financial services industry
    • 15 + years’ relevant experience in related field
    • Operational & Regulatory knowledge of the financial services industry
    • Proven track record of success in business development, sales, or related roles, preferably in a B2B environment
    • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable plans.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving common goals.
    • Results-oriented mindset with a focus on driving revenue growth and achieving targets.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
