    Head: Analytical Systems 1

    Job Purpose

    • The Head: Analytics Systems within Group Risk Analytics (GRA) will report into the Divisional Head: Credit Risk Systems. The incumbent of the role is accountable for providing an integrated lens on Nedbank’s risk systems and metrics within GRA and perform a cross-functional role in supporting credit and non-credit areas within the organisation

    Job Responsibilities

    • Support the group-wide productionisation of models and processes for credit and non-credit risk types.
    • Stay abreast of developments in quantitative analytics to ensure Nedbank’s analytical tools and solutions are up-to-date and in-line with international best practises. 
    • System maintenance and foundational system enhancements for the SAS Digital Model Deployment (DMD) Platform and SAS IFRS9 impairment solutions.
    • Support the implementation and regrounds of Nedbank’s IFRS9 model suite, in conjunction with maintenance of model implementation standards and methodologies.
    • Ensure consistency and automation of data and processes across GRA.
    • Drive optimal use of our analytics system investments to enable risk functions to efficiently utilise the output from the Group’s operational processes.
    • Drive business optimisation through engagement with stakeholders to create integration, automation and process efficiency including digitisation and Cloud migration.
    • Support and ensure the optimal implementation of GRA specific and Group wide projects.
    • Provide support across the Group when required i.e., the resolution of all system related issues and knowledge sharing.
    • Drive the implementation and review of IFRS9 BCBS239 compliance which includes the linkage to Group Data Services.
    • Engage and manage all cluster relationships pertaining to the SAS DMD Platform and SAS IFRS9 impairments solution.

    Leadership 

    • Lead a team of Quantitative Analysts in the delivery / realisation of key outcomes for the Credit Risk Systems team. 
    • Create and maintain a high-performing team by identifying key talent through conducting career conversations and the use of the talent grid principles and developing talent retention programmes and strategies.
    • Build a depth of skills and knowledge in the team by sharing knowledge and insights.Ensure continuous improvement goals are achieved by creating an environment whereby self and team are encouraged to challenge the status quo by initiating constructive debates about work practices.

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Preferred Qualification

    • Minimum required qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics / Quantitative Analytics / Statistics or similar with relevant experience.
    • SAS programming preferred or similar (SQL / R / Python) knowledge
    • Minimum Experience Level

    The following minimum experience is required:

    • 6+ years’ experience in credit risk analytics, data, and systems management.
    • Knowledge of credit risk systems and processes, data, and the Nedbank data landscape.
