    Handyman - Plumber - Johannesburg

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Maintain Plumbing (Planned & Preventative Maintenance):
    • Establish plumbing performance to prevent plumbing systems failure
    • Completes job cards in consultation with the maintenance services (planning) office for scheduled jobs
    • Responsible for time management of jobs scheduled each day.
    • Assist to prepare necessary tools and PPE for the day ahead.
    • Attend to requests relating to plumbing installations, repairs and upgrades in line with scheduled repairs as well as:
    • Remove and replace worn components.
    • Use specialized techniques, equipment or materials such as welding of pipes or working with special piping.
    • Keep Maintenance Supervisor up to date and feedback on status and challenges with regards repairs and installations
    • Close out of job cards.
    • Complete and issue time sheets to Supervisor on a weekly basis.
    • Assist in keeping the workshop and plant rooms tidy and presentable.
    • All maintenance tasks to be checked and signed off by the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that work has been executed at the required standard.
    • Undertake planned maintenance tasks allocated.
    • Assess requirement for spares and consumables and request from stores.
    • All equipment and services are restored timeously and perform according to specifications.
    • Undertake reactive maintenance tasks in response to helpdesk calls and as directed by the Supervisor.

    Mechanical Compliance:

    • Inspect work sites for obstructions and to ensure that holes will not cause structural weakness.
    • Store and secure parts and tools needed in line with regulations and SOPs
    • Maintain Personal Protective Equipment in line with specifications and regulations
    • Keep up to date with latest trade knowledge and skills in line with updated equipment and systems; as well as regulations around plumbing requirements
    • Keep up to date with policies and procedures for plumbing; as well as revised testing or installation procedures, and align practices.
    • Keep up to date with the handling of various tools including saws, screwdrivers, pliers and knives, as well as the use of power tools, test meters, pipe threaders and conduit benders
    • Complete documentation relating to work done for future reference in the event of failures

    Skills and Competencies    

    • Knowledge of technical equipment and materials
    • Have a good knowledge of machine tools, general maintenance.
    • Experience with technical systems required
    • Excellent skills with common hand and power tools
    • Hospitality and customer centric focus
    • Knowledge required involves the practical application of work procedures and processes
    • Communicates, co-ordinates and interacts with others in the value chain to ensure repairs, installations and upgrades are resolved
    • Ability to manages one's time to ensure that objectives are achieved effectively and on time.

    Qualifications    

    • Matric
    • N3 Qualification and apprenticeship
    • Plumbing Trade / Certificate advantageous
