Handyman - Carpenter at Bidvest Facilities Management

Job Summary:

The Carpenter will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and other materials. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities:

•  Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and measurements
•  Constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures such as cabinets, doors, window frames, staircases, and furniture
•  Selecting materials and tools required for each project
•  Safely using hand and power tools including saws, drills, sanders, and nail guns
•  Collaborating with other construction professionals such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers
•  Ensuring all work is completed accurately, efficiently, and up to code
•  Performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment

Requirements:

•  Grade 12
•  Technical qualification in carpentry or related is a requirement 
•  Minimum 4 years of proven experience as a Carpenter
•  Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods
•  Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
•  Proficient with hand and power tools
•  Excellent communication and teamwork skills
•  Physical stamina and strength to lift and carry heavy materials
•  Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications:

•  Certification in Carpentry or related field
•  Prior experience working in commercial or residential construction
•  Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures
