Group Technical Accountant- JS - Fourways at Omnia (Pty) LTD

Overview    

• The incumbent will be responsible to prepare relevant technical accounting papers on transactions to be approved by the audit committee and provide relevant advice on the structuring of transaction.

Qualifications    

• CA(SA) 

Experience    

• At least 5 years-experience in a technical accounting role
• Subject matter expert in technical IFRS
• Experience working on multination groups

Duties    

• Prepare relevant accounting papers for complex transactions require relevant research and management judgement in determining the final accounting answer in terms of IFRS.
• Assist the business units in the group with providing advice on accounting transaction.
• Identify relevant accounting transactions requiring technical accounting advice, assist with the relevant accounting advice and ensure its implemented correctly in terms of IFRS requirements.
• Become a main point of contact for business leaders wanting to engage in new transaction to ensure appropriate advice is obtained before entering the transaction.
• Assist with the review of head office and group consolidated financial statements and ensure appropriate disclosure are implemented ensuring compliance from an IFRS, JSE and SAICA disclosure perspective.
• Assist the group finance team in review of business units reporting packs for half year and year end reporting purposes.
• Assist the group team in the completion of the consolidated financial statements, long form and short form announcements as well as relevant SENS announcements.
• Assist the group finance team in the consolidation proses.
• Assist the group finance/ tax and treasury departments with the roll out of new transactions/ reports and advice proposals to the audit committee and board.
• Design and implement an IFRS training program for the group, identify shortages of IFRS technical skills within finance departments and implement appropriate corrective actions to upskill finance department skills.
