    Group Leadership Development Lead

    Job Summary

    To provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on Absa’s Leadership development framework, strategies, policies and standards; in order to deliver the leadership capability and pipeline required to deliver Absa’s business objectives and desired culture. To manage the Absa Leadership Academy.

    Job Description

    Accountability: Leadership Development Experience and Thought Leadership

    • Support design and implementation of Absa’s leadership and management development standards, strategy, frameworks and governance
    • Develop and embed a differentiated, robust and consistent group-wide leadership development experience that utilises best-in-class approaches and embeds Absa’s desired culture
    • Design and implement robust MI reporting, data analysis and insights generation to facilitate data-driven talent planning and decision making (Including periodic Leadership Development Impact analytics)
    • Conduct internal and external research and produce industry- and functional-level insights that position Absa as a thought leader and employer of choice on talent and leadership development
    • Drive leadership and management development reputation building efforts that position Absa as an employer of choice
    • Provide leadership development Subject Matter Expertise and advisory to business and key stakeholders

    Accountability: Leadership and Management Development Curriculum

    • Lead development and implementation of a strategy-aligned and future-fit Absa Leadership Academy curriculum that builds leadership and management capabilities in individuals and teams across all levels of the organisation
    • Manage the Absa Leadership Academy in collaboration with the Group Learning, Group Talent and People Experience Centre teams.
    • Ensure Absa’s leadership and management development processes and solutions enable effective Pan African face-to-face and digital engagement and delivery
    • Provide leadership and management development Subject Matter Expertise and advisory services to leadership teams, People Function and other key stakeholders, including recommendation and development of bespoke leadership development solutions and experiences

    Accountability: Accelerated Development of Absa Group Limited (AGL) ExCo Succession Pipelines

    • Design and execute accelerated development programmes and experiences for AGL ExCo succession pipeline, including executive, cluster, emerging and young talent
    • Manage accelerated development of AGL ExCo succession talent and other AGL ExCo priority talent segments as individuals and as leadership cohorts, in collaboration with business, learning and talent teams  

    Accountability: Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including business leaders, talent leaders, leadership development and learning providers, regulatory bodies, industry bodies and sector forums

    Accountability: Capability Building

    • Build Group and business leadership and management development functional capabilities in proactively developing and retaining the best talent for Absa’s cultural and capability requirements
    • Build and lead a Leadership Development Community of Practice across the Group, and implement specialist and People Partner-focused interventions.
    • Build leadership team and line manager capability in owning and executing the leadership and management development agenda as a personal and business priority.

    Accountability: Agency and third party management

    • Manage Absa’s Preferred Suppliers List for leadership and management development providers, monitoring the quality of services provided on an ongoing basis to ensure a high quality PSL is maintained.
    • Manage Absa’s overall group spend on Leadership and management development solutions to ensure it is line with the Group Strategy and optimal use of the Absa Leadership Academy offerings
    • Manage all relevant third party relationships and Service Level Agreements in line with regulatory requirements and Absa standards. 

    Accountability: People management

    • Manage a small team of leadership development specialists in line with Absa’s desired culture and people management standards.

    Accountability: Risk Management and Governance

    • Identify and take accountability for all relevant Leadership and Management Development risks in terms of the AGL Operating Model and Risk Management Framework and ensure that adequate controls and monitoring mechanisms are in place.

    Promote and role model a culture of proactive compliance and risk management within executive and management teams, and the function as a whole.
