Group Accountant at Santam Insurance

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

• This career opportunity is available at Santam’s Corporate Services in the for the Financial Management department. The role is based in Bellville, Cape Town. 
• The Group Financial Accountant will provide assistance in the financial management and statutory reporting function of the Santam group. 
• This function encompasses both externally directed financial reporting to shareholders and the Board as well as internally focussed reporting with regards to management reports.  The objective will be the production of timeous and accurate consolidated financial results to be included in management reports, statutory financial statements and reports on the overall consolidated financial results for the Santam Group of Companies

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• CA (SA)
• Minimum 3 years of financial services experience; experience in the insurance industry would be highly recommended.
• Extensive financial accounting experience in complex technical environments, including consolidation and group reporting experience.
• Experience in financial management reporting.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Comprehensive and extensive knowledge of IFRS, ideally insurance accounting.
• Insurance Act, Companies Act
• Tax knowledge
• Computer literate (Advanced Excel)
• Knowledge of and experience with Hyperion Financial Management would be highly recommended. 
• Strong numeracy and analytical skills
