Group Accountant Compliance at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    

• Rand Water is currently looking for a Group Accountant Complianece to oversee the verall responsibility of the compliance monitoring of the Finance Business Unit in respect of statutory, legislative and regulatory frameworks and well as company policy and procedures. Evaluate and assess internal controls and risk impact in a finance environment. Ability to work with a cross functional team on the implementation of stringent controls with the financial arena. Development of sound accounting policies and procedures which assist in the mitigation of risk exposures. Evaluation, implementation and management of financial business processes.

Minimum Requirements    

• B. Com Hons or equivalent
• A minimum of eight (8) years working experience in an accounting, auditing, and compliance environment with similar responsibilities
• Experience in compliance monitoring and risk management in a similar environment
• Experience in internal control monitoring and management in a finance environment
• Experience in accounting and company policy development and reviews
• Excellent knowledge of compliance standards in respect of statutory, legislative and regulatory frameworks including PFMA, IFRS, Income Tax, VAT, JSE listing requirements, King IV etc.
• Excellent knowledge of financial accounting systems.
• Advanced computer literacy in respect of spreadsheet applications, word documents and power point presentations

Desirable qualification:

• CA(SA)
• 3 - 5 years post qualification experience
• Project Management

Primary Duties    

• To provide complete, accurate and reliable information to management on Rand Water’s compliance status.
• To identify, assess and monitor the impact of risks to the Finance Business Unit and advise on corrective action to mitigate the associated risks.
• To assess, monitor and report on standards of internal control across the Finance Business Unit.
• Review and manage compliance and internal control processes in Rand Water.
• To develop policies, processes and frameworks to ensure that the finance environment complies in all respects with all governance protocols, statutory, regulatory and legislative frameworks.
• Implement processes that ensures the integrity and reliability of financial reporting and sustainability reporting information.
• Monitor tax compliance in accordance with SARS and relevant foreign legislation.
• To provide sound technical advice or support to the Rand Water business relating to technical accounting and compliance matters.
• Oversee any internal, ISO, Forensic and external audits, review and analyze results and recommend the financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer for the Group Audit & Risk Committee consideration.
• Finance Lead on any recommendations that are suggested in the audit report or management letter.
• Ensure that all the required operating accreditations (e.g. ISO) and/or certificates are attained/maintained.
• Keeping abreast of changes in relevant frameworks and implementation thereof to ensure timely compliance.

Knowledge
