Minimum Requirements

• National Diploma: Graphic Design/Diploma Graphic arts
• Minimum 3 years’ graphic design experience – advertising, photography, social media marketing, brand compliant corporate projects
• Proficient in Specialised Design Software (CorelDraw) for the PC with Apple Mac knowledge
• Possessing a sound knowledge of corporate branding, multimedia platforms and creative innovation
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Must be able to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
• Strong service ethic - maintaining confidentiality

Additional Recommendations

• Computer proficiency with software such as Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, Adobe Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
• Must be able to work well in a team
• Must be able to work independently

Summary of Duties:

To assist in the efficient achievement of projects as indicated by Manager: Design Studio providing personalized support which includes, but is not limited to the following:

Takes responsibility, as part of the Design team for timeous implementation of tasks as directed by the Manager: Design Studio, specifically the following:

1. Produces artwork as directed,
2. Supports income-generating initiatives of Corporate Affairs, e.g. acts on own initiative to accept design requests from students via Student Associations
3. Fulfils other design related work as directed by the Manager: Design Studio, e.g. to meet need of client’s in relation to a specific design brief

Undertakes designated general administrative tasks as directed by the Manager: Design Studio, e.g.

1. Inputs and generates job costings for processing through the ITS system (Finance)
2. Maintains an efficient filing and recording system using the systems in place within the department
3. Keep a weekly work schedule for auditor’s reference

• Ensures satisfaction of core customers by undertaking design tasks in manner directed by Manager: Design Studio, e.g. Produces artwork timeously, creatively and efficiently.
• Maintains sound relationships with colleagues and contributes to a team effort. In particular, contributes to team performance, by undertaking tasks outside own specific area of responsibility as may be required from time to time to achieve team objectives.
• Helps the Manager in achieving the goals and objectives of the department and the university.
