Geological Technician at Anglo American

Purpose

Ensure reliable and timely acquisition of geological data and assist the relevant Geologists in geological interpretations and data validation.

Your duties will include:

• Consistently apply Safety and health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for the safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
• Function as a role model and support a workplace culture where safety and health for the site are paramount.
• Support an environment for team members to challenge and act on unsafe behaviours without repercussions.
• Ensure proper planning and execution of drilling and pit mapping to improve the reliability of block demarcations.
• Ensure proper sampling and compositing of RC drilling samples.
• Ensure that all information (geology and chemistry values) is imported into Surpac after logging, sampling, and pit mapping are completed in a specific area.
• Validation of all geological information in the relevant area.
• Update the current production geology database with the processed drilling and pit mapping.
• Information to ensure accurate and available data.
• Ensure quality assurance to comply with audit standards.
• QAQC of RC and blast holes
• Spatial validation of all RC and blast hole collars and depth information.
• Assist the site QAQC champion with Production Geology QAQC reporting ad-hoc projects.
• Support the section Manager Production to evaluate ad-hoc projects and innovative technology.

Qualifications:

• Degree in BSc Geology or BTech Geology
• An Honors Degree will be advantageous
• Registered (candidate) with SACNASP.
• Valid SA Drivers License

Experience

• Technical knowledge with one year of operational experience in the Geology environment.
