    General Manager Ground Support (RGU)

    • The General Manager will be responsible for providing inspired leadership for the local legal structure which involves, production, SHEQ, Finance, HR, supply chain, procurement, local and export sales distribution. This includes the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures, legal and Epiroc Group compliance as well as the normal day to day activities of running an efficient operation. The General Manager will lead the local management team and would report directly to the Head of Global Production RGU. The role will be based in Aeroton South Africa.

    Mission:

    • To Develop and manage a world class, efficient and profitable local legal organization based upon LEAN principles. Ensure legal compliance and develop competence levels of employees and teams and align local strategy with Global Operations strategy.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide inspired leadership for the local legal organization and develop world class operational culture.
    • Design local strategy and set goals for growth in line with Group, Divisional and Operations Strategy.
    • Support international production footprint development.
    • Responsible for daily business operations targets and evaluate performance, productivity and profitability.
    • Manages and optimize a PC/DC/CC overall operations and financial performance (P&L).
    • Analyze financials, production performance, maintenance, logistics, procurement and quality control to identify problems and implement solutions that will improve financial performance and quality.
    • Work closely with the local management team to set and implement policies, procedures and systems and to follow through with implementation.
    • Lead the management team and HR with recruiting focusing on core competence and diversity.
    • Responsible for promoting a healthy company culture that encourages high preforming teams and high morale. Support transparent communication with the management team.
    • Responsible for local budgeting, monthly reporting, planning and auditing.
    • Analyzing accounting, financial data and control budgets and optimize expenses.
    • Responsible for all legal and regulatory process adherence and ensure compliance with laws and regulations, ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations.
    • Drive and implement local group sustainability projects based on the 2030 targets.
    • Lead and implement continuous improvement projects.
    • Develop and manage system effectiveness of the QSHE system to meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and requirements.
    • Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving local operations.
    • Maintain Divisional compliance with The Epiroc Way.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in operations management/engineering or related field.
    • Masters in business administration would be an add advantage.
    • 10 years’ experience in management, operations, and leadership.
    • Recent experience in managing large diverse teams is essential.
    • Understanding of finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management is a must.
    • Solid understanding of financial management.
    • Good understanding and implementation of LEAN principals.
    • Sound technical knowledge of production processes
    • Experience in compiling and submitting financial and performance reports is essential.
