    General Foreman

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

    • To supervise and assist the team in the execution of all electrical and mechanical activities

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12/NQF Level 4 is essential.
    • A recognised relevant Trade Qualification (Section 13/26D) OR proof of recognised completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND NTC 2 (Recognised Trade Theory) Qualification AND
    • Minimum of 3 years working experience in an Underground environment as an artisan is essential.
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential.
    • Enrolment or Completion of the Impala foreman development modules is essential.
    • Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Must have supervisory and managerial skills.
    • Read, interpret, and produce basic engineering drawings.
    • Understand and apply a problem-solving technique.
    • Must have good interpersonal and good communications skills. 
    • Must have knowledge about mine standards best practices, risk management and operational business objectives.
    • Must have technical working knowledge with regards to equipment used in the Mining environment.
    • Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and regulations are essential.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Supervise the work unit to achieve work unit objectives (individuals and teams)
    • Plan, organise and monitor work in own area of responsibility.
    • Ensure discipline is maintained in department.
    • Maintain health, safety, security and housekeeping within the internal environment.
    • Conduct Task Analysis and take appropriate action to address identified risks.
    • Protect company assets.
    • Detect and prevent fraud.
    • Comply with Company Policies, Standards, Rules and Procedures
    • Analyse and solve problems.
    • Direct Teams according to emergency priorities submitted by production personnel.
    • Provide Teams with expertise assistance in solving technical problems.
    • Report to Snr Co-Ordinator on all activities and problem areas.
