Foreman Sewer – REF: JW390EX/2024 at Johannesburg Water

PURPOSE

• Manage all functions related to the maintenance of the sewer system in order to effectively manage the sewer infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise operational plans to coordinate and optimise the utilisation of the area’s resources for all field work to be undertaken.
• Ensure that correct materials and resources are available for scheduled operations on a daily basis.
• Monitor and supervise the quality, standard and productivity levels for all field work by doing site inspections and job assessments.
• Ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out within the accepted response times and deadlines to ensure proper service delivery to customers.
• Coordinate all maintenance and construction work under his / her control.
• Investigate and implement new and more effective work methods and techniques in consultation with the Operations Manager.
• Investigate and report on industrial effluent compliance issues.
• Update plans of sewer reticulation and forward to the Operational Manager for correction.
• Supervise the inspection of vehicles for roadworthiness and ensure that logbooks and checklists are completed and submitted.
• Participate in the planning and coordination of company policies and procedures relating to the sewer network.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance according to the Staff Management Plan.
• Liaise with customers, members of public and councillors on sewer related issues.
• Supervise activities to ensure that it is within the budget provision.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance to the safety procedures.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Grade 12 or N3 (NQF4) + Plumbing trade test certificate/Appropriate Learnership NQF 4
• 4 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of sewer reticulation of which 1 year must be at a supervisory level.
