    Foreman/ Operator Relief - Kempton Park

    Plant Foreman Position

    • Ensures emergency response procedure is followed in case of an emergency
    • Ensure maximum plant efficiency to achieve shift production target
    • Minimizes Production Costs
    • Reports shift production and plant summary relating to shift performance after each shift
    • Monitoring of production personnel time keeping
    • Liaise with maintenance department for speedy solution of mechanical, instrumentation and electrical problems via the Job card / SAP system
    • Utilize and develop personnel effectively to ensure maximum productivity of shift
    • Ensures plant systems are operated according relevant standard operating procedures and take corrective actions to address deviations
    • Ensure production PM schedules are seen to by operators
    • Conducting daily plant inspections / walking tours to ensure that the plant is in good running order.
    • Accountable for all plant housekeeping matters and attends to housekeeping deviations timeously
    • Administers all shift activities effectively and report on them on the foremen comment book
    • Ensures quality of product packed on shift meet customer requirements
    • Liaise with lab analyst to resolve any product quality and chemistry issues
    • Responsible for standby callout
    • Addresses complains from outside about dust fumes
    • Taking corrective measures on operators or artisans who fail to comply with company rules and regulations on shift
    • Assesses operators regularly in order to determine competences and development needs
    • Conducts on going consultations with subordinates to ensure understanding of work processes
    • Properly handover shift to the incoming foreman

    Wet End Operator Position

    • Run and control wet end systems to ensure that the dry end system rate is maintained
    • Stop and start wet end systems according to standard operating procedure (SOPs).
    • Hourly check Lab results to formulate a new recipe for the make-ups and enter the new recipe into DCS
    • Performs inspections in WET End area on a daily basis. Direct any deviations to the foreman for resolution.
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices in all WET End areas
    • Do system fault finding and address problems when identified
    • Attend to Daily / Weekly / Monthly WET End PMs
    • Reports any defects on equipment and unsafe condition and/ or unsafe equipment to plant foreman and make system safe
    • Fill in relevant event books and SPC charts
    • Performs special or emergency tasks and any other task on request of foreman or appointed supervisor
    • Liaise with dry end operator as to ensure continuous operation of all sections
    • Take wet end samples according to sample schedule or at foreman’s instruction and ensures samples are received by laboratory analyst punctually in appropriately marked bottles
    • In the event of a breakdown, cleans and prepares equipment for maintenance
    • Participate in training to NQF level 3 and further

    Dry End Position

    • Run and control Dry end systems to ensure that the plant final product rate is maintained
    • Stop and start Dry end systems according to standard operating procedure (SOPs).
    • Hourly check Lab results to monitor product quality parameters, used to control Dry end System
    • Performs inspections in Dry End area on a daily basis. Direct any deviations to the foreman for resolution.
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices in all Dry End areas
    • Do system fault finding and address problems when identified
    • Attend to Daily / Weekly / Monthly Dry End PMs
    • Reports any defects on equipment and unsafe condition and/ or unsafe equipment to plant foreman and make system safe
    • Fill in relevant event books and SPC charts
    • Performs special or emergency tasks and any other task on request of foreman or appointed supervisor
    • Liaise with Wet end operator as to ensure continuous operation of all sections
    • Take Dry end samples according to sample schedule or at foreman’s instruction and ensures samples are received by laboratory analyst punctually in appropriately marked bottles
    • In the event of a breakdown, cleans and prepares equipment for maintenance
    • Participate in training to NQF level 3 and further
    • Assess plant operations in order to determine when to clean disintegrator and screen system

    Filter Press & Field Operator Position

    • Run and control Effluent systems to ensure that DBF system rate is maintained
    • Ensure DBF quantities in storage tanks are maintained and quality through lab analyses and visual inspection to ensure sufficient supply of DBF to the water treatment sites
    • Ensure DBF tankers are loaded in time
    • Ensure DBF tanks are drained daily
    • Make timeous decision to backwash the running DBF filter
    • Stop and start Effluent systems according to standard operating procedure (SOPs).
    • Operating of the filter press and ensuring all effluent sent to NCP is free of solids
    • Ensure that both sump pumps are working to pump any floor effluent to NCP dams to maintain housekeeping at ground floor
    • Management of waste and Hydrocalc
    • Take all plant (Wet end, Dry end and effluent) samples according to sample schedule or at foreman’s instruction and ensures samples are received by laboratory analyst punctually in appropriately marked bottles
    • Check Lab results according to sample schedule to ensure the system runs optimum
    • Performs inspections in plant on a daily basis. Direct any deviations to the foreman for resolution.
    • Do plant walking tours and report deviations
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices
    • Do system fault finding and address problems when identified
    • Attend to Daily / Weekly / Monthly Effluent PMs
    • Reports any defects on equipment and unsafe condition and/ or unsafe equipment to plant foreman and make system safe
    • Fill in relevant event books and SPC charts
    • Performs special or emergency tasks and any other task on request of foreman or appointed supervisor
    • Perform drop test procedure according to SOP
    • Assist both Dry and Wet End process controllers where required
    • Liaise with Foreman to ensure continuous operation of all sections
    • Effective communication between the dry end and the wet process controllers is very crucial to the running of the plant
    • In the event of a breakdown, cleans and prepares equipment for maintenance
    • Run the Dry End Filter press and ensure the Dry End section has sufficient cake to run the Dry End efficiently
    • Takes filter press cake samples according sample schedule
    • Performs special or emergency tasks and any other task on request of foreman or appointed supervisor

    • Actively participate in constantly improving Plant and individual safety and housekeeping by engaging in cleaning up work area and spillages, get and put away tools, supplies and equipment.  This also entails the use of protective equipment as required and proper cleanup when done
    • Comply to all safety rules and safe-job practices
    • Report all accidents/incidents/injuries immediately to his/her supervisor, no matter how small
    • Attend and participate in safety EH&S meetings
    • Report all unsafe conditions to his/her supervisor
    • Keep his / her work area clean and neat (Maintain good housekeeping standards)

    Ad-hoc duties

    • During shutdowns, work as per instruction from plant foreman, production manager or designate
