Field Service Technician - Durban at Stratogo

Education and experience:

•  Minimum 5 year’s experience in a related field of work
• Qualified Diesel/Earthmoving Mechanic – Trade Tested.
• Valid Driver’s Licence

Required Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in computers and Windows packages is strongly preferred.
• Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and without close supervision.
• Strong customer relations skills.

Responsibilities:

•  Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair, assemble, and service equipment as assigned by the Workshop Manager.
• Document machine information and repairs completed on Job Cards and responsible for submitting accurate Daily Reports and other required paperwork.
• Assist in composing quotations for repairs and servicing.
• Maintain technical and product knowledge on all Machines and participate in available company-sponsored training, to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as per company regulations.
• Always maintain excellent housekeeping.  
• Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all workshop tools, machines, and equipment.
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community to present a professional image of the company.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends and stand by when necessary and at short notice.
• Health and safety in the workplace and on-site.
• Submit weekly vehicle inspections and vehicle log book to the Workshop manager.
• Adhere to the warranty process as per OEM recommendations, from start to finish.
• Maintain an organized inventory of tools.
• Mentor junior technicians/apprentices through the apprentice program.
