Facility Engineer, Inland at Astron Energy (Pty) Ltd.

Job Description

• Accountable for project development and execution of Capital Projects in coordination with Regional Engineering Support Manager, Logistics Area Managers and Terminal Managers in accordance with Local Regulations, Industry and Company Global Standards.
• Provide budgets for projects for capital planning
• Oversight of the projects to ensure safe, on-time and on-budget performance with quality accepted by the customer (Terminal Operations
• Responsible for monthly reviews of Actual vs. Plan and Cash Flow.
• Project documentation should be kept for Internal Audit Reviews and legal compliance’
• Assist in operational cost reduction through optimizing the project plans at the facilities
• Maintains proficiency with Project Management and Capital Stewardship tools.
• Collaborates actively with   Engineering Support Manager, Logistics Area Managers and Terminal Managers providing technical expertise for capital investments and improvements at the facilities.
• Provides technical support to the terminal for maintenance on the facilities and any Operational projects
• Accountable for implementation Reliability initiatives in accordance with global standards.
• Accountable for Tank Cleaning and Repairing Program according to API 653 standard.
• Accountable for the Pipeline API 570 inspection program
• Proper records and documentation should be in place. Accountable for rotary, electrical and other important equipment documentation
• Manages resources required to implement and execute Capital Projects and Terminal Maintenance programs including contractors. Accountable for implementation and execution of contractor performance (on time / on budget) and Contractor Safety Management Program.
• Ensures compliance with SHEQ processes and any audit gap closures
• Ensures compliance of projects with government requirements and obtains the appropriate permits to conduct the work.
• Fosters and cultivates a safety culture that leads to and sustains world-class incident-free operations
• Works with contractor management to ensure compliance with SHEQ requirements and facilitates improvement of staff

Professional Qualification and Certifications: 

• Snr Certificate and an Engineering diploma or degree, mechanical or electrical is preferred
• ECSA registration as a professional Engineer or Technologist is preferred 

Work Experience:

• 5 years experience
• Petro Chemical/Oil and Gas Experience will be an advantage 

Knowledge and skills:

• Valid driver’s license + a passport (there should be no reason that a passport would be refused).   
• Extensive Project management.  Fluency in MS project advantageous
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Need to be fluent in English.
• Standard MS Office packages

 Knowledge on the development of project plans/schedule (MS Projects is preferred)

• Need to be able to work with others in a team. As they will be responsible for various facilities. 
• Need to be able to prioritize and manage their own schedule
• Be able to influence across the organization
• Understanding of the OSHact is advantageous
