Executive Head: Energy Performance at Vodacom

To lead energy and climate change strategy and programme across all Vodacom markets and to optimise energy consumption and cost, minimise GHG emissions and mitigate against energy related risks.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Lead localisation of Vodafone Group Energy and GHG reduction strategy, targets and roadmap across Vodacom Group
• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of best practice energy management across all Vodacom markets (i.e. ISO 50001, Group Energy Policy compliance, local governance, Technology Efficiency Programme, training etc.)
• Develop a technology strategy, product/vendor selection, Proof of Concepts and deployment
• Lead energy aspects of business planning, i.e. energy budget and emission forecasts, energy savings programme (capex/non-capex)
• Support SCM in sourcing renewable electricity via Power Purchase Agreements, Renewable Tariffs/Certificates and eligible Carbon Offsets
• Ensure effective tracking against internal and external targets, programme performance and energy consumption/GHG emissions
• Support the sales teams in presenting energy and climate change aspects to customer (i.e. business and government customers)
• Work with various stakeholders including government to identify opportunities for effectively managing Vodacom’s energy and climate change strategy.

Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Matric – Essential
• National Diploma or Degree in Engineering/technical qualification - Essential
• Post graduate qualification – Advantageous
• 8 to 12 years’ relevant experience in Sustainable/Green Energy solutions
• Stakeholder management of multinational, multicultural, multi-geographic organisational exposure
• Business transformation
• Knowledge of the energy regulatory framework across Vodacom’s operating markets
• People management skills, excellent communication and reporting skills
• Experience in management of energy and climate change related programs across large multinational organisations
• Experience in implementing renewable energy policies through mechanics such as purchase power agreements (PPA) and renewable energy certificates (RECs)
