Key Performance Areas:

• Prepare cost estimates from first principles by analysing tender documents, compiling project scope, analysing drawings and/or bills of quantities. The estimates covers simple short duration projects and also complex projects running over extended periods.
• Analyse drawings to produce assembly logic and material requirements.
• Identify outstanding information within the tender documents and liaise with the potential client until all uncertainty is removed.
• Compile project scope from the tender documents.
• Perform evaluation of bids and provide the pricing in a timely manner.
• Closely monitor the results of the tenders and update them in the tender register.
• Confers with engineers, subcontractors, contractors, vendors, etc., on the adjustments or changes that need to be made in the cost estimates.
• Participate in determining the feasibility of projects.
• Co-ordinate multiple estimates simultaneously.
• Methodical and detailed bid handover to Project Management/execution department.
• Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
• Develop guidelines for future estimates.
• Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data.
• Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

Preferred Requirements:

• Minimum: Qualified artisan, N3 with Mathematics.
• Preferred: National Diploma in Engineering.
• 5 Years’ experience as an Estimator in a similar sector of industry.
• Must have heavy engineering and fabrication experience.
• Working knowledge of construction contracts and terminology.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques, especially in a workshop environment.
• Must exert him/herself to arrive at the best price that will win the contract in a competitive bidding situation while ensuring that the contract can be carried out profitably.
• Evaluate and report on a project's cost effectiveness, risk profile and profitability.
• Read and interpret technical data.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Computer literate (MS Office - Advanced Excel).
