    Electronics Engineering In-Service Training

    Reporting to the Operations Manager, the trainee in this role will be provided with practical 1 and 2 Work Integrated Learning (WIL) to complete and obtain the qualification. The incumbent will be exposed to a wide variety of satellite ground station operations and activities which involve working with antenna systems and equipment to facilitate (i) the direct reception of Earth–Observation satellite data and related services, (ii) participating in the provision of Tracking, Telemetry, and Command (TT&C) services, satellite operations, and monitoring services, to our customers, and stakeholders. which include international space agencies and satellite operators.

    Key learning areas will include, but are not limited to: 

    • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic, telecommunications, and computer hardware or software systems and equipment associated with satellite ground station operations.
    • Participate in rendering specialized Tracking, Telemetry & Command (TT&C) launch support services to SLVs (Satellite launch vehicles) Transfer-Orbit Support (TOS), Launch and Early-Orbit Phase (LEOP), Emergency, In-Orbit Test (IOT) services, routine life-cycle support operations, etc.
    • To conduct routine preventative maintenance and first-line reactive maintenance, to SANSA-owned or stakeholder or customer-owned systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
    • To participate in ad-hoc project work and the opportunity to work on, or add value to existing or new projects, systems, and processes.

    Requirements

    • S3/S4 Electronic Engineering qualification with good academic results specializing in telecommunications.
    • Final year of studies and in search of P1 and P2 in-service training to complete the qualification.
    • Satellite Technology coursework.
    • Understanding of microwave principles, applications, and telecommunications.
    • Proficient in the English language and good communication skills.
    • Computer skills.
    • Must be able to use both hands and have good vision.
    • We are in a remote area with no access to public transport, applicants need to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transport to and from work.
