    Data Scientist - Durban

    Who Are You

    • You are an experienced data scientist with proven experience in solving high impact business problems by providing actionable insights from large data sets and market intelligence
    • Ability to effectively apply a combination of statistical knowledge, programming skills and business acumen to identify, prioritize and solve high impact business issues

    What You Have Done Before

    Baseline:

    • NQF Level 7 Degree in one of the following disciplines:
    • Computer Science/ Information Technology/Software Engineering/Data Science/ Actuarial Science/ Mathematics)
    • 8 years’ experience in Data Science Analytics or Statistics 
    • 2 years’ Experience in Supply Chain/Logistics environments or similar
    • 2 years’ Experience in Business Analysis & Data Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, QlikView etc)
    • Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig or similar
    • Experienced with analytical tools (R, Python, Stata and frameworks (ML algorithms, time series forecasting, scientific sampling techniques
    • Excellent applied statistics such as modeling, testing, regression, time series forecasting and sampling
    • Highly proficient in dealing with large data sets and comfortable in moving between financial and behavioral indicators and big data analytics

    Advantageous:

    • 7 years experience in supply chain, marketing & customer experience or research analysis
    • 8 years experience in Oil & Gas and/or Lubricants

    What You Will Be Doing

    • Apply a combination of statistical knowledge, programming skills and business acumen to identify, prioritize and solve high-impact business challenges
    • Effectively communicate findings to leadership and translate them into recommended actions with ongoing tracking mechanisms
    • Provide in-depth analysis and research into the Lubricants Supply Chain to identify innovative opportunities and provide actionable insights to enhance customer experience, improve efficiencies and reduce costs 
    • Analyse customer requirements and behaviours to develop strategies that enhance the supply chain offering to market 
    • Conduct in-depth research on competitor behaviour and data to provide ongoing intelligence to ensure Engen remains ahead of the competition
    • Support Lubricant teams in developing, maintaining and improving real time dashboards for key KPI's and business metrics
    • Integrate digital analytics data with traditional data sources & build predictive models to target the right customers. 
    • Present data in a clear manner to technical and non-technical audiences through the use of Data Visualisation Tools and Computer Animation
    • Stay current and adapt to new and emerging data science, artificial intelligence, cognitive learning and machine learning technology
