Data Governance Analyst at Vodafone Global Enterprise

Role purpose:

• Join the Vodacom Group Data & Analytics team as a member of the Data Governance team. You will be responsible for implementation and adoption of the Vodacom Data Governance Policy to ensure our data is governed to standards, owned, catalogued and trusted by quality processes.
• This role will require the individual to have advanced data analyst skills such as coding, data visualisation creation and the ability to reconcile different data sources. The position will allow an individual to advance their data analytical skills as well as gain considerable stakeholder management experience as you work with business to understand the business processes and data flows. In the role you will work closely with the data stewards across the business to drive remediation of data quality issues identified in each data domain.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Business process: To document in detail all business process and related systems, indicating data flows from creation through to warehouse, identifying any possible issues. Identify any manual inputs and recommend possible automation.
• Data Quality Design: Design and implement the data quality model across all the data quality metrics including alignment between the different source systems.
• Data analysis: Understanding the data structures and how the data would map to the targeted measures and attributes. Assist with design of master scripts for KPIs and recommended possible business rules to be productionalised.
• Application Development: Design and develop Qliksense Governance applications
• Data stewardship: Responsible for the relationship with the data steward to ensure they understand their role in the creation of data and actions to remediate data issues arising from data quality checks.
• Stakeholder Relationships: Partner with the Security and Privacy teams to drive compliance to Data Governance policy.
• Scale to International: Support local market compliance to the data governance policy through sharing of tools, methodologies and best practice for data governance programme implementation in VSA

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
Must have technical / professional qualifications:

• Degree/diploma in computer science, engineering or related degree/diploma
• 3 – 5 years working experience, of which 2 years in Data Governance
• Excellent knowledge of SQL (Teradata, Oracle, Informix) and working with relational databases
• Developer experience in visualisation tools like Tableau, QlikSense or Power BI
• Trained in Agile to deliver as part of a high-performance diverse team across different technical capabilities
• Telecommunication experience would be advantageous
• Abinitio experience (Express IT)

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

• Communication skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills to present to stakeholders and team members
• Technical skills – Extensive experience querying large, complex data sets requiring SQL skills as well as experience in visualisation tools like QlikSense or Tableau. Should be able to code data quality rules in Abinitio.
• Analytical skills – Problem solving ability to identify where business processes don’t support the creation of accurate data
• Agile experience – Ability to work in an agile squad to ensure incremental data product delivery. Required to lead the business performance chapter across markets
• Data Governance experience – Understanding data governance principles and framework including experience with Abinitio data models
• Team player - Excellent team player capable of supporting the different teams across Vodacom
• Application knowledge: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Visio/Bizagi and Jira
