    Data Analyst

    Key Purpose

    • The role of the HR Data Analyst (Intermediate) will be to translate people analytics insights into actions thereby supporting the strategic business objectives.

    Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to:

    Key enabler of data driven decision making through  analytics literacy and translation

    • Turns data into information on a regular  basis within their own specialization
    • Regularly establishes both personal and  business stakeholders ensuring  KPIs are set and measured on an ongoing basis.
    • Is able to show stakeholders how HR  contributes to business strategy using data
    • Alignment to Centre standards processes and procedures.Leveraging off centre based capabilities and assets and scaling\applying within the business
    • Leveraging descriptive data analysis by setting targets
    • Measurement of HR efficiencies and outcomes through scorecards
    • Understands people analytics and the value of  using data, and occasionally leverages this to  create more impact
    • Actively acquires new knowledge of the latest  HR and management research and best  practices
    • Application of data analytics and informational requirements into  best practice principles and translation into people data sets.

    Is Customer Focused

    • Goes beyond direct internal customers and direct stakeholders; makes active effort to  understand whole internal stakeholder  ecosystem
    • Actively acquires new knowledge of HR trends and benchmarks for analytics.
    • Deeply understands the end-customer and consistently adds value to Hr community and line managers.

    Ensure that the operational data analytics requirements are fully met which may include:

    • Leverages operational reporting inventory by educating and supporting business users
    • Identify informational needs
    • Attending to queries and data requests from stakeholders
    • Acquiring, cleaning, and organising data
    • Reporting on data outcomes
    • Prepare analysis reports for stakeholders

    Lead the analytics translation for the Business Unit which may include:

    • Proactively enables the business to achieve business goals through data analysis
    • Partnering with the business and driving analytical adoption to meet strategic objectives using data
    • Research and identify process improvement opportunities
    • Propose system modifications based on improvement opportunities identified
    • Contribute to process and report automation
    • Building of dashboards to meet business requirements
    • Presenting and leveraging data insights to inform data-driven decisions

    • MS Excel (Intermediate to Advanced level)
    • SQL (Intermediate to Advanced level)
    • Statistics and analytics using SPSS/Python/R/SAS
    • PowerBI/SSRS reporting tools

    Education and Experience

    • 3 – 4 years of relevant experience
    • Matric

    Post Graduate tertiary qualification in one of the following (or related) fields:

    • Information Systems and/or Technology
    • Computer Science
    • Mathematics
    • Statistics
    • Machine learning and data modelling techniques would be advantageous
    • Exposure to working with Hadoop/ MySQL/Tensorflow/Spark and other modern tools would be advantageous
