Currency Insights Specialist - Pretoria at South African Reserve Bank

Brief Description        

• The main purpose of this role is to source and analyse data to generate business insights and to provide management information that supports the implementation of high-quality, data-driven decisions for the Currency Management Department (CMD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Detailed Description        
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

• Understand data engineering principles (ETL) and tools (SQL, SSIS, etc.) and liaise with the business intelligence (BI) developers to construct data models effectively.
• Work closely with the business units within CMD to better understand and analyse their business requirements, data and metrics in order to find solutions to identified problems.
• Extract, clean and interpret data, formulate hypotheses and develop an analytical approach to resolve business problems, using the latest data tools in the industry (e.g. Python, API and CX).
• Provide insights and reports that will support internal and external stakeholders in planning and decision making.
• Analyse and assess business performance against CMD’s key performance indicators (KPIs), using internal and external qualitative and quantitative information to inform management decision making.
• Develop and provide analytical reports and dashboards as required by the business areas to track production targets and various projects’ performance trends.
• Champion data interpretation and communicate knowledge, insights and recommendations in a clear, succinct and action-oriented manner in support of the CMD team and other key role players.

Job Requirements        
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

• a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics/Mathematics or an equivalent qualification; and
• an Honours degree would be an added advantage.
