    Crop Protection Country Leader

    Description

    • We’re hiring for Crop Protection Country Leader: South Africa
    • Learn how you can be our voice in the conversation about the future of agriculture.
    • As CP Country Leader you will be responsible for building and driving both our short- and long-term crop protection commercial strategies within South Africa. Enabling our crop protection teams, execution of new product launches and active participation across the value chain will position us well to service of growers.
    • Being a people leader, requires inclusivity, living our values plus will offer coaching- and developing of our crop protection teams.

    You Will Be Part of Growing Team

    • Leading our full end-to-end CP commercial business
    • Active member of Corteva Africa Middle East commercial leadership team
    • Engage through our cross functional teams, to support our value delivery to growers and channel partners

    Your Challenge:

    Scorecards/Key targets 

    • Accountable to deliver financial and non-financial country scorecards for the Crop Protection business 
    • Top-Line and Bottom-Line targets fulfillment. Deliver price, volume, margin to quarter and annual plans 
    • Share gain and profitability 
    • Accountable for demand forecasting and inventory 
    • PL accountability and working capital at Crop Protection business level 
    • Safety ethics compliance customer satisfaction 

    Country Crop Protection Strategy and Commercial Success 

    • Develops a successful commercial development strategy for the Crop Protection business. 
    • Ensures resources deployment and alignment with the CU targets. 
    • Ensure projects country plan in place to deliver on the Crop Protection country strategy 
    • Continuously follows up on the projects to ensure all are on track to achieve delivery targets and on the resources assigned. 

    Country Crop Protection Commercial Lead 

    • Accountable for country go to market for Crop Protection 
    • Coordinate commercial offering to maximize country Crop Protection success 
    • Ensure country commercial alignment and delivery for both near and long term (5y year) strategy 
    • Lead demand review and forecast quality for Crop Protection business 
    • Drive collaboration with the Seed platform, Biologicals and Seed Applied in terms of offering to farmers
    • Build and leverage commercial external partnerships from customers and thru industry & crop associations 

    People 

    • Lead & develop the Sales organization to its full potential and according to our values
    • People leadership in sales organization for Crop Protection including talent selection and development, succession plan 
    • Ensure full compliance with the corporate standards. 
    • Ensures the commercial organization is set up for success to growth on permanent basis using development people programs that include training, coaching and exposure of the people 
    • Continuously leverage the best practices to grow and improve productivity of the resources 

    Partnership 

    • Builds company image by collaborating with customers, government, community- and industry organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices & Market Shaper philosophy 
    • Coordinates activity with other departments and ensures operational and strategic goals are achieved 
    • Customer relationship, growth, acquisition and retention 

    Reporting lines 

    • Manages: Area Sales Managers, Marketing Managers and Technical Agronomist 
    • Reports to: Commercial Director Africa Middle East

    Key Stakeholders and Interactions:

    Internal: 

    Commercial Unit Leadership Team, marketing and support functional teams 

    External: 

    Strategic Business Partners/ Channel distribution 
    Crop Protection Association and crop industry
    Government, high level regulatory agencies, key country ag institutions

    Centurion (Gauteng) or Paarl (Western Cape), South Africa

    Qualifications
    To Grow What Matters, You Will Need:

    • BSc degree. Agriculture, BCom or related and MBA would be an advantage 
    • Minimum 10 years of successful commercial leadership experience 
    • Good understanding of the ag market dynamics and value chain. Experience across both seeds, biologicals & crop protection segments would be an advantage 
    • Strong business acumen – business financial reporting and budgeting training and experience, knowledge of financial concepts and analysis related to business management 
    • Knowledge of sales and marketing tools and solutions / ability to effectively lead implementation & behavioral change across the organization 
    • Strategic mindset and experience in setting 5 year plan with ability to effectively communicate and steer execution of plan
    • Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with peers, customers, key industry/market influencers 
    • Ability to lead and motivate teams through continuous change 
    • Ability to manage, coach and counsel 
    • Ability to identify key issues, develop innovative solutions and get results 
    • Knowledge of industry environmental, regulatory and stewardship issues
