Strategic management, planning and implementation of client strategies, including the production of highly effective content across traditional and digital platforms.
MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION:
Strategic Planning and Project Management
- Gain a solid understanding of the client’s industry, business and objectives
- Develop and implement client strategies in conjunction with line managers
- Set and achieve measurable client objectives and monitor the effectiveness of campaigns
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and carry out thorough research as required
- Establish and deliver accurate timelines required to complete the required work
- Create cost estimates for client approval and monitor and manage budgets for campaigns and projects.
Strategic Content Generation and Distribution
- Generate high-quality content, including long-form reports, press releases, op-eds, features, social media, digital and design
- Produce content as required for clients
- Manage content developed by internal and freelance writers/designers
- Traffic and administrate all content
- Accountable for briefing, editing, proofreading and strategic relevance of content
- Accountable for briefing, editing, proofreading and strategic relevance of content
- Strategic distribution of content across all media channels, including social media and design/DTP
- Oversee and collaborate on the distribution of content across all relevant media channels, including social media and PR
- Project-manage the development of all design/DTP components
- Gain client approval on visual components including design/DTP and photography
- Keep abreast with marketing and advertising industry trends.
External Relationship Development and Management
- Successfully build and manage the client relationships
- Attend client meetings to provide feedback and status of plans
- Effectively manage the client briefing process, expectations and revisions
- Manage the client approval process
- Attend to ad-hoc client needs
- Accountable for the building and managing of strong supplier relationships, including printers, digital suppliers and freelancers.
External and Internal Reporting and Budget Management
- Timeous reporting on all media channels
- Successful allocation and management of client budgets
- Regular written and verbal communication and updates with the line manager.
Internal Relationship Management and Collaboration
- Managing the internal approval process
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Using internal systems successfully.
Job Evaluation Criteria
Formal Education
- Minimum relevant tertiary degree or diploma qualification in Journalism, Project Management, Marketing, PR, Communications, Media Studies. An honours qualification is advantageous.
Experience
5 years of experience in journalism, marketing, advertising, PR or digital environment with a focus on:
- Content generation and distribution across all media channels, including digital/social media
- Project management
- Relationship development and management
- Strategic client service in an agency is preferred.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of related industries such as Marketing, Communications, PR Advertising and Digital
- Highly knowledgeable in Writing, Journalism and Media.
- Knowledge of media in specific industries including Education; Health; NGOs; Financial; Environmental

- Strong planning ability including multitasking and prioritisation
- Strong organisational and administration skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
