Civil Technologist - Glenvista at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    

• Reporting to the Programme Manager: Zuikerboch System, the incumbent will execute and manage the implementation of small, multidiscipline and/or large single-discipline projects within the field of Civil Engineering in Rand Water as a Project Engineer.

Minimum Requirements    

• Formal Civil engineering qualifications (BTech, BSc/BEng degree).
• Driver's License;
• 2 - 5 years relevant technical experience in the field of Civil Engineering/ infrastructure projects
• Professional Registration (or eligibility to be registered) with the Engineering Council of SA
• Professional Registration (or eligibility to be registered) with the SACPMP
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 will be an advantage

Primary Duties    

• To provide Civil Engineering support to the project manager in strict compliance with Rand Water’s project execution guidelines through the following
• Assist in the supervision, inspection and approval of work done on a project, and ensure that it adheres to approved specifications
• Co-ordinate electrical engineering work on projects
• Apply conceptual thinking in order to optimize a project
• Guide the Project Manager on technical related matters on projects, and to then select and apply the most suitable engineering techniques to solve problems
• Liaise with contractors, colleagues and/or other specialists such as quality assurance
• specialists, financial specialists, etc, to ensure a successful project execution and handover
• Act as an assistant in project technical and progress meetings;
• Defining and monitoring the Programme’s governance arrangement.
