Job Advert Summary    

• An opportunity has become available for a Boilermaker who will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and maintaining agricultural transport equipment. This role involves welding, cutting, shaping, and joining metal components to construct, maintain and repair drawbar trailers, tautliner trailers, ancillary trailers, excavator loader grabs and push pillars. The Boilermaker shall ensure the structural integrity and safety of all metal fabrications, performing routine inspections and maintenance to prevent equipment failure. This position requires a strong understanding of welding techniques, metal properties, and industry safety standards.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12
• Minimum qualification: Relevant Diploma / NQF level 6
• Qualified Artisan (Boilermaker) with recognized trade certificate.
• Up to 3 years’ experience in a similar role 
• Previous experience working in the logistics industry would be advantageous 
• Must be able to work under pressure

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Planning, Leading, Organizing and Control of the welding team, tools and equipment
• Responsible for housekeeping and SHEQ in the welding shop
• Managing of Job Cards
• Aligning structures or plate sections to assemble metal frames
• Performing routine maintenance on trailers and trucks metal works
• Inspecting and repairing metal fittings, such as hanger brackets, bin frames, scissors arm, subframes and bin doors
• Fabricating iron/steel plates and tubes for construction of trailer components, loader push pillars and grabs
• Using torches, plasma cutters, or arc welding equipment to cut, bend, and shape metal pieces for assembly
• Testing completed work to verify they are fit for operation
• Installing pre-made components and assembling grabs, push pillars
• Updating job knowledge continuously by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical drawing and participating in meetings
