    Audit Technical Partner

    BDO has a vacancy for an Audit Technical Partner. The purpose of the Audit Technical Partner role is to improve audit quality through ensuring that the national audit department understands how to correctly and efficiently apply the auditing standards, BDO methodology and BDO audit tools. This is done by consultations, communications, training, templates and providing direction. The Audit Technical Partner also provides support to audit staff nationally and drives audit efficiency through projects, communications, in-flight reviews and reviewing modified audit opinions.

    Reporting to the National Head of Audit the Audit Technical Partner will, inter alia, be responsible for:

    • Keeping auditors technically up to date with auditing standards, methodology & tool with a result of serving the clients effectively and efficiently to enhance the BDO brand.
    • Managing the National audit technical and training budget.
    • Ensuring all audit staff queries relating to modified audit opinions; audit methodology and auditing Tool are attended too accurately and timeously.
    • Driving key Audit efficiency and quality projects such as standardisation of APT Next Gen libraries, creating new industry specific APT Next Gen libraries and Audit Data Analytics Projects.
    • Standardising Audit Templates and obtaining technical committee approval and communication thereof.
    • Analysing file inspection outcomes to determine where improvement is required.
    • Providing support in the training of qualified audit staff.
    • Chairing the National Accounting and Auditing technical committee and ensuring actions in terms of the committee are delivered on.
    • Being a member of Global Audit technical working groups as the need arises.
    • Preparing and submission of audit technical communications and bulletins providing guidance addressing auditing standards, methodology and audit tools changes or application.
    • Being involved in at least one engagement, even if only as support partner, to keep up to date with the practical side of an audit
    • Volunteering to be on SAICA and or IRBA subcommittees.
    • Managing the writing of thought leadership commentary/blogs and technical articles for BDO or participate in interviews and panel discussions representing BDO and Audit Technical initiatives

    Qualifications

    • CA(SA)

    Experience and Knowledge

    • 10 Years post articles experience.
    • 6-7 Years in a senior role within the Audit Technical Environment
    • Thorough understanding and application of accounting and auditing principles and the ISA's through experience as a senior auditor.

    • Excellent verbal, written and negotiation skills.
    • Develop appropriate relationships and collaboration within the Firm.

    • Must demonstrate high people engagement skills

    The successful candidate should be able to;

    • Demonstrate a commitment to self-development and growth through research and attending courses relevant to role.
    • Keep abreast of relevant changes on own field of work i.e. law amendments, new practice notes, attend technical meetings, etc.
    • Identify areas of weakness and engage with National Head of Audit to upskill and improve through training and online self-development

    Training

    • Advanced application of Microsoft office specifically PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook
