    Actuarial Specialist.

    Role Objectives

    • Support the dynamic and fun Personal Lines Pricing team in servicing the various portfolios through pricing, product development, portfolio management and analytical assistance on personal lines products, including Hollard’s unique MotorXtender warranty policy. The role also offers the successful applicant exposure to commercial and specialist/niche products – an ideal opportunity to widen horizons.

    Key Responsibilities

    Business Development Responsibilities

    • Contribute to the implementation of the Personal Lines pricing strategy.
    • Contribute to the overall effectiveness and delivery of work within the Personal Lines pricing team.
    • Develop and maintain strong working relationships between the team and related internal and external stakeholders, particularly the Distribution, Underwriting, IT and Product development teams.

    Pricing & Portfolio Monitoring

    • Assist with the design and pricing of new and existing products by:
    • Conducting on-going review and monitoring of pricing on products.
    • Measuring and monitoring the appropriateness existing rates.
    • Performing data analysis and manipulation.
    • Supporting system implementation of new products as well as updating and maintaining rating models on existing products.
    • Assisting with design and implementation of renewal pricing philosophy.
    • Assisting with experience monitoring of existing portfolios.
    • Conducting impact analysis of new rates to support stakeholders with change management.
    • Generate and review product documentation for new and existing products by:
    • Liaising with underwriting, product team and IT to develop product specifications.
    • Supporting sales teams with technical marketing queries.
    • Assist with testing and specification of system setup for products.
    • Monitoring and reporting on products.
    • Supply management information by analysing trends and insights to inform business decisions.
    • Perform modelling as needed to support business decisions.

    Required Knowledge And Experience

    • 3 to 5 years short-term insurance pricing and product development experience.
    • Statistical software experience (Emblem, SAS).
    • Advanced MS Office and SQL skills.
    • Technical pricing experience (Generalised Linear Models and other modelling experience) would be an advantage.

    Educational Requirements

    • Tertiary actuarial qualification.
    • Good progress in completing CTs (minimum of combined nine – twelve subjects preferred).
    • Studying towards becoming a qualified actuary in the short-term insurance industry.
