Job description

Job Purpose:

To control professional and technical procedures to address the engineering requirements of internal/external clients.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Provides advice and guidance on the formulation of proposals and design concepts, contract and project management of basic and average complexity type of broadly defined engineering works.
• Provides advice/information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with basic or average complexity Engineering processes encapsulated in specific projects of a broadly defined nature.
• Implementing control processes for the verification of schedules, bills of quantities, tender documents and cost estimates prepared by technical personnel.
• Prepares special conditions aligned to 'procurement policies' of the Municipality.
• Controls the implementation/outcomes associated with time, quality and cost of specific basic and average complexity engineering contracts.
• Disseminates information on the professional and technical aspects of engineering design concepts and provides reports detailing interventions and outcomes.
• Collecting and making available factual information and conducting the necessary investigation/ research, to enquiries to support professional personnel.

Essential Requirements:

• Registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Techno.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa; plus Internal Assessment.
• Valid motor vehicle drivers licence (Code B or EB).

Special Conditions:

Appointment or progression to Senior Engineering Technologist level will be subject to applicants achieving the required number of credits that would be deemed as a pass in the Internal Assessment Test.
