Job description

An opportunity has become available for a qualified CA to join them as a Financial Director. This role is based in Cape Town.

Key Performance Areas

• FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT & STRATEGIC DIRECTION
• Dealing with daily financial issues, ranging from how much FEC cover to take, trademark issues, legal contract issues, SLA negotiations, tax/PAYE/VAT and general business queries.
• Monitoring of expenditure
• Assessing/Input into price increases
• Providing Strategic Direction on a range of Finance/Business issues, from assessing alternative EVA investment proposals, giving direction to Finance staff, discussions with execs on numerous issues impacting on the business.
• FINANCIAL REPORTING
• Monthly results to AVI and internally to Green Cross (compile FLASH commentary, MD report and Finance Exec report),
• Mid-year and Financial year end (AVI pack, Audited Annual Financial Statements).
• Wholesale, retail and manufacturing Profit &Loss Statements.
• Continuous improvement of internal reporting and analysis.
• Ensure reporting in line with IFRS
• BUDGETING & FORECASTING
• Annual Budget consolidation for the business
• Quarterly Forecasting reports and Financial modelling (Profit &Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow).
• LEADERSHIP
• Leadership and direction to the whole executive team in respect of commercial viability of all decisions, standing in for the MD as required
• Management of the Finance Department
• BUSINESS PLANS/DUE DILIGENCE/ CONTRACTUAL
• Oversight of the property portfolio
• Review and sign all legal and trade agreements
• GOVERNANCE & LEGISLATIVE COMPLIANCE
• SARS (queries & review tax returns), legal, contract queries
• Coordinating/providing input into the BBBEE pack
• Liaising with external auditors, internal auditors, lawyers and tax consultants
• Ensuring the business is aligned with corporate governance and accounting principles
• Competition Commission interaction
• ECONOMIC VALUE ADD
• Custodian of EVA bonus template and to drive business understanding and awareness thereof
• Compile EVA calculations for major investments re new aerosol line, Epping Park purchase etc.
• RISK AND COMPLIANCE
• Chairman of Risk Committee
• Management of Green Cross insurance portfolio
• IT AND SYSTEM RISK
• Oversee full IT function and responsibility
• GENERAL OPERATIONAL CONTROL
• Oversee all controls over operations

Experience, Qualifications and Knowledge Required:

• Minimum of 10 years' working experience post articles essential
• Minimum of 3 years' experience heading up a finance function in a similar manufacturing/production and/or retail environment.
• Experience within a listed company will secure
• Registered Chartered Accountant CA (SA)
• Tax qualification
