Role purpose:
- The Principal Specialist BD Architect will be responsible for contributing and executing on the Big Data technology architecture strategy. The Principal Specialist will leverage their expert knowledge of technologies to define areas of the reference architecture, select new technology standards and assist projects with early identification of the right architecture options.
- The Principal Specialist Big Data will be responsible for designing and delivering Analytics architectures based on established Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, R, Python, Kafka…).
- As core part of his/her responsibilities, the Principal Specialist BD Architect will be accountable for delivery from the requirements definition, through the delivery phase and the evolution of the platforms, in terms of new functionalities and integration of new tools and will bring innovation in processes and products as part of his personal contribution to the team.
- Proven record of implementing large IT systems
- Practical experience of implementing Big Data solutions will be advantageous.
- Takes E2E responsibility for the Design of Analytics big
- Data solution and all related components.
- Assist architecture and infrastructure specialists, qualify

- Product and services portfolio and define design
- Resourcing estimates.
- Degree/HNC/HND (or equivalent) in IT related subject.
- A Certification in Big Data related discipline advantageous
- Must have minimum 8 years of architect experience in IT domain.
- Work experience in a Big Data technology and Architectures or alternatively the BI domain will be advantageous.
- Must have established Big Data Technologies experience such as (Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, R, Python, Kafka…).
- Proven record of implementing large IT systems.
- Practical experience of implementing Big Data solutions will be advantageous
- Preferable Strong Big Data design experience with knowledge in all or some of the following areas of expertise: Hadoop distribution Cloudera, processing engines Spark/Flink and streaming pipelines using Kafka. Proven track record of delivering successful IT architecture designs.
- Extensive in-depth knowledge of a broad spectrum of BI technologies
