    Materials Planner

    Job description

    Purpose Of The Role

    The Material Planner manages the calculation and order placing of raw and packaging materials with suppliers and the resultant call offs of materials to ensure adequate cover for the production plan, while at the same timing managing stocks within Working Capital targets.

    The Material Planner is responsible for the management and communication of medium and long term material forecasts with suppliers and is pro-actively identifying and managing any potential supply constraints.

    The Material Planner is responsible for understanding the remaining shelf life of materials through the slow moving and obsolete materials handling process and is managing these materials to prevent any write offs.

    The Material Planner is driving a Continuous Improvement process with its suppliers to unlock value for the business.

    The Material Planner is responsible for Master Data management to ensure optimal use and function of the MRP system

    Main Accountabilities

    • Schedule raw and packaging material call offs at specified intervals in order to ensure that production plan is met (week 1-2) for in-house and contingency production plans
    • Review and re-plan material requirements for week 3-13 horizon and reviews long term constraints in the week 14-104 horizon.
    • Ensure that days on hand for raw and packaging materials are managed within agreed target levels.
    • Ensure that all Master Data relating to the products being overlooked is proactively managed and correctly and accurately maintained.
    • Accurately maintain all open Purchase Orders with suppliers
    • Ensure all purchase orders are placed with suppliers within the agreed lead-times.
    • Maintain zero supplier payment queries by close of week
    • Schedule Supplier Meetings weekly discussing current stocks, forward forecasts and incoming orders.
    • Monitor Supplier performance (i.e. delivery against requirements, compliance to site rules, etc...)
    • Review trends regarding production losses arising from material related issues and initiate the relevant problem solving to eliminate failures.
    • Proactively manage material rundowns in line with Innovation changes and ensure that any potential write offs are highlighted and managed.

    Minimum Requirements

    • University Degree / Diploma / Supply Chain qualification or working towards such qualification
    • Experience in Planning and functional process knowledge
    • 1-2 Years exposure in broad based Supply Chain management
    • Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
