Job Summary

Role Purpose & Scope

To be effective the Billing Architect must have experience on multiple Hardware and Software Environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous system environments. The Billing Architect must be able to simplify designs and guide the client on the chosen solution whilst applying best practice principles. The Billing Architect is often a highly experienced individual who has led multiple projects through the Software development process or Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and has usually performed in a variety of different roles in that life cycle. The person needs an ability to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to executive staff, business sponsors, customers, other vendors and technical resources in clear concise language.

The Billing Architect is responsible for the development of the overall billing vision that underpins the projected architecture and transforms that vision through execution into the solution. The Billing Architect becomes involved with a project at the time of inception and in developing the initial requirements. They then remain involved throughout the balance of the project. They are an expert in many categories. A broad and deep understanding of Databases is also required. They work very closely with developers to ensure proper implementation and are the link between the needs of the organization and the developers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provides technical leadership for end-to-end BSS/OSS enterprise architecture solutions, including integration with partner/third party components
• Prime technical leader of all technical aspects of the billing architecture, defining components for design and development and identifying skills/resources required to develop
• Ensures compliance to principles of quality assurance
• Follows and promotes the agreed Best Practices and their supporting documentation
• Acts as trusted advisor for the customer for design considerations
• Proactively prevents and resolves technical issues to avoid escalation
• Provides leadership to the project technical teams through the design, build, test, and delivery process.
• Reviews and approves designs and development estimates
• Assist with new opportunities at the client by presenting and becoming a trusted advisor
• Supports the Agile teams to keep deliverables on target and on time
• Assists with technical customer interactions from kick off through to SIT & UAT
• Take responsibility for and execute a solution strategy and business plan that support product growth
• Assists staffing coordinators who define project team requirements for projects in solution area
• Mentor and guide more junior architects, business consultants and technical resources

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering (Telecommunications) or Business (with major in Computing)
• Minimum 5 years' software development and application implementation experience
• Excellent knowledge of the order to bill process and related functions such as mediation, rating, billing, payment and collections, and revenue assurance.
• Experience in working in a variety of SDLC roles including application development, application maintenance, production support, system integration, and/or data migration.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (incident management, problem management and change management)
• Strong knowledge and experience in at least one tier-1 billing platform (e.g. CSG Singleview)
• Knowledge of real time charging systems
• Expertise in identifying and translating business / system requirements into software design documentation
• Highly developed skills in providing end to end solution and design details
• Senior design experience in database applications
• Experience in implementing technologically complex Projects
• Good interpersonal skills in terms of both oral and written communication and presentation with prospects and the customer
• Ability to identify and highlight technical risks as well as resolve any production incidents timeously
• Highly developed analytical problem-solving skills to identify and diagnose complex problems that require complex methods or theories
• Highly developed communication skills to influence and gain cooperation amongst team members, the client and/or 3rd party vendors
• Some experience in working with Agile teams
• Telecommunications industry experience and related product knowledge would be an advantage
• An understanding of the TM Forum Frameworks (eTOM, SID and TAM) would be an advantage
