Plant Engineer - AEL Mining Services at AECI Limited

Job description

AEL Mining Services, a subsidiary company of AECI, is looking for a seasoned Plant Engineer to manage and lead the section in the execution of engineering, asset care and maintenance project management services in order to achieve plant reliability, availability, safety and health and quality objectives.

Key Responsibility Areas and Linked Requirements;

• Ensure application of effective breakdown management procedures to minimise plant breakdowns and implement pro-active prevention systems
• Use their experience in implementing and directing asset management principles, statutory shutdown inspections, critical spares inventory and the maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Must have extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, utilities, process plants and in-depth understanding of internationally accepted engineering standards.
• Ability to measure and analyse equipment data, identify non-conformance, problem solve and implement preventative and corrective actions.
• Attention to detail and in-depth knowledge and experience in developing and implementing procedures and management of change.
• Ability to identify, enable and drive cross-functional projects, equipment optimization programs and manufacturing process improvements in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner.
• Aware of the occupational health and safety legislation, emergency procedures, environmental sustainability and quality support on engineering risks and hazard studies.
• Lead, develop and motivate mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams and ensure co-ordination between production and maintenance to achieve operational objectives.
• Application of human resource management principles to facilitate rebuilding of teams, strike contingency plans and overtime planning.
• Compile and report on budgets and expenditure to the Engineering Manager

Minimum Requirements:

• NHD/BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 5 - 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing and chemicals environment.
• In possession of or working towards a Government Certificate of Competency (Factories).
• A technical orientation and managerial experience
• Knowledge of the OHS Act and Explosive Act
• Knowledge of engineering principles and maintenance management systems (CMMS, SAP PM)
• Sound understanding of contractor management, project management and management of change principles
