The Recruitment Team is searching for an Assistant Packaging Innovations Manager – Culinary. The role will be based in Randfontein and report to the Consumer Packaging Innovations Manager.
The purpose of the role is to independently drive packaging innovation and lead troubleshooting as well as the development and implementation of fit-for-purpose packaging within the Culinary business unit. The individual should strongly align with the Consumer Innovation Packaging Manager’s drive to fulfill RCL FOODS' passion of: MORE FOOD TO MORE PEOPLE MORE OFTEN.
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum - Packaging Diploma.
- Food Technology Diploma, Quality and Food Safety Qualifications, Biochemistry or similar advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years, first-hand experience in delivering sustainable food packaging solutions for a large scale FMCG manufacturing company.
- Experience in product/packaging interaction and ensuring food safety through correct food contact packaging application.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Packaging Innovation and Development:-
- Cultivate a mind-set of creation and innovation through use of lateral, “out of the box” thinking.
- Work with internal, cross-functional teams to plan, co-ordinate, trial and implement new packaging developments at each factory on site. Similarly, work on packaging quality improvements, cost reduction initiatives and solutions that are aligned with the Culinary NPD Funnel. This is for both current and future planned projects.
An appreciation for the critical role packaging has to play in our environmental responsibility to people and planet and an ability to build this into packaging delivery.
Packaging Governance:-
Adhere to the company Total Quality Management Systems.
Assist with compliance to HACCP in terms of all packaging documentation required for our project management system (Sharepoint) and full audit compliance.
Be responsible for development of packaging specifications with suppliers and ensure approved specs, along with layouts and barcode verification reports are available electronically on the Intranet to all regions before new materials are delivered for first production.
Ensure strict confidentiality around pricing and any new launches planned plus any other relevant information.
Administrative and Functional Support:-
Ensure brilliant basics in packaging execution in terms of specification accuracy, documentation completion and working through defined business systems to deliver against SIA’s and meet Marketing launch timings with a high quality of packaging.
Attend all Project Team Meetings to assist with network builds that include key packaging development tasks and associated realistic time lines that will directly impact launch timings. Document project details and maintain electronic records fastidiously.
