POSITION SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of this role is to produce an optimised bankable medium to long-term mine plan for the operations that ensures resources, equipment and infrastructure are exploited to their maximum potential
REQUIREMENTS:
- Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH/National Diploma in Mining Engineering and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience in mine planning & production at operations, of which 1 year at least in a supervisory capacity;
- In-depth knowledge of mining and mining methods (Dragline, Truck & Shovel and Underground mining) is essential;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of environmental issues (Water and Land Management) is essential;
- Experience in the coal mining industry is essential
- Planning software knowledge is essential (Deswik, XPAC, Vulcan).
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Executes the directional planning and appraisal, closure planning and delivery planning and appraisal processes (Business Planning Cycle) at Asset level in accordance with South32 Standards;
- Develops long term (>2 years) production plans, designs, models, schedules and forecasts in conjunctions with internal customers;
- Optimises Asset plans using resource planning and processing optimisation tools which may include NPV as an optimisation metric;
- Develops strategies and studies to optimise the economic exploitation of the mineral inventory;
- Provides non-financial evaluation of opportunities (risk, throughput, system performance, productivity) to define the opportunity portfolio, using models, statistical and analytical methods and protocols;
- Provides technical expertise to govern standards for the Planning discipline within the Asset.
