    Senior Legal Advisor (CS 19/17)

    Job description

    (REF NO: CS 19/17)

    TCOE: R646 676 PER ANNUM REF NO: CS 19/17

    Requirements:

    • LLB degree with admission as an Attorney or Advocate [passed bar exam]
    • At least 2 years’ minimum post-admission experience in a relevant legal environment
    • Understanding of local government legislation, policies and procedures
    • Valid Code B driver’s licence.

    Key performance areas:

    • Providing high level legal direction and services to Council, Council committees, line departments and political structures
    • Providing an effective and effi cient legal compliance function by ensuring legal compliance with Constitutional obligations and the provisions of applicable National and Provincial legislation as well as by-laws and policies of the City
    • Drafting and providing of legal opinions based on fi ndings of research Drafting legal documents and legal agreements
    • Protecting/promoting the legal interests of the City and safeguarding it against risk
    • Providing legal research service to Council and managing ad hoc legal projects
    • Managing ad hoc litigation on behalf of the City.
