    Enterprise Architect (PowerDesigner)

    Discovery’s intention is to expand our business model into banking (subject to Regulatory Approval), and to establish a brilliant, innovative full-service retail bank in South Africa. From a regulatory perspective, this involves a lengthy and complex process in which the outcome is not guaranteed. A two-step approval is required: Firstly to obtain authorisation to establish a bank – and thereafter, after complying with all the conditions, to apply for registration as a bank. Banking business may only commence once registration as a bank has been granted. Discovery has embarked on this process.

    Key Purpose of the Enterprise Architect (PowerDesigner)

    Participating in the planning, development, maintenance, and enhancement of Enterprise architecture structures and customisations in PowerDesigner, with a focus on definition and validation of sustainable strategies, roadmaps and architectures together with field colleagues, product owners, and development teams across Discovery.

    Areas of Responsibility

    • Maintain and take central responsibility for the Discovery Enterprise Architecture Content Framework and Model Templates in SAP PowerDesigner.
    • Enterprise architecture requirements definition, modelling and knowledge transfer
    • Implement and develop the technical specification and standards using the relevant development language (VB and Java scripting).
    • Enterprise architecture method and metamodel implementation within PowerDesigner including documentation of customisations, frameworks and configurations.
    • Create architecture guidelines and templates for our stakeholders
    • Document logic and comments inside code as well as external documentation.
    • Consult with IT operations on technical issues encountered; incident logging and resolution (respond to incidents escalated by the Incidents team; review error logs; log issues in the appropriate issues tracking system; conduct preliminary analysis on issues).
    • Participate in the process of reviewing code for consistent application of standards, logic and effective use of libraries and reusable aspects of the application (extensions, language files, automations, quality assurance methods).
    • Perform coaching with other developers / modellers to in still an understanding and application of the coding and modelling standards.
    • Develop metamodel scripting (not just standard developing)
    • Update the reference documentation and update the scheduling tool with progress.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Relevant Tertiary qualification
    • 5 – 8 years’ experience in enterprise architecture, solution management or solution consulting and software development
    • 5+ years developing enterprise architecture models preferably in SAP/Sybase PowerDesigner or alternative enterprise architecture tool
    • Demonstrated Enterprise Architecture skills (Togaf, Zachmann, SAP EA content Framework…)
    • Experience in working with internal stakeholders in advisory project related role
    • Repository management knowledge and experience
    • Strong modelling skills, at minimum good in UML / SYSML and moderate in BPMN and understanding in different specifications (for examples see http://www.omg.org/spec/)
    • Strong technical skill in development Languages (at minimum one : Java, VBScript, C#, C++, .NET) and the ability to develop metamodel scripting rather standard developing
    • Understanding of the ITIL process (certification an advantage)
    • Experience in SAP Hana, BI, cloud and Sybase technology portfolio is an advantage
