An exciting opportunity exists at Mazars for a Tax Partner who will be based at Mazars House in beautiful Century City, Cape Town.

Purpose

To provide strategic direction, manage the tax advisory team and grow the business in a solutions-oriented company culture where we are client centric and living the Mazars Values.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Tax advisory
• Prepare, write and review tax related reports including research issues, complex restructures, and SARS enquiries
• Initiate and manage complex advisory assignments
• Completion of timesheets
• External tax related publications / client communication material
• Portfolio management
• Department budget management
• Tax department outputs - tax opinions and related reports
• Individual productivity
• Tax consulting policies, procedures, systems and standards
• Capacity management and structures and roles
• Performance evaluation, reviewing and feedback on work reviewed to staff
• Mentoring and coaching
• Succession planning / talent management
• Staffing decisions re employees in Tax consulting
• Role model the organizational culture and instill culture in others
• Develop and implement strategy
• Motivated tax consulting team
• Manage and develop client relationships
• Identify business development and cross selling opportunities
• Grow client portfolio
• Marketing and development of the brand, serve on committees and client presentations
• Partner and manager technical training

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified CA; and/or Qualified Attorney
• Tax qualification
• Minimum of 9 years advisory experience at a senior level in tax matters essential
• Minimum of 2 years management experience essential
• Financial Services experience beneficial
• Excellent communication skills in English (Oral & Written)
• Excellent computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook)
• In depth knowledge of Tax
• Proven ability to manage people and clients
