    Small Plant Operator

    Job Purpose

    • To perform tasks/ activities associated with road rehabilitation works.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    • Undertakes general labouring tasks and operates small plant and equipment during 
    • road rehabilitation works.
    • Attends to the preparation of work site, e.g. loading/ off-loading equipment, tools, etc 
    • and/ or fastening slings/ ropes and guiding/ holding material/ equipment during the 
    • loading/ off-loading sequence.
    • Sets outs and, removes on completion, roadworks signage isolating areas and 
    • indicating/ warning users of the obstructions.
    • Connects generators and compressors in accordance with standard operating 
    • procedures.
    • Breaks surfaces using electric or pneumatic paving breakers and/ or excavating/ 
    • backfilling trenches using small plant.
    • Mixes and lays concrete, crusher run, in situ concrete, etc and smooths / compacts 
    • surfaces using specialised light plant and equipment.
    • Prepares and applies sealants (e.g. bitumen mix) to tarred surfaces using hand held 
    • sprayers.
    • Marks, drills, and mounts signage on supporting structures.
    • Paints old/ new directional signals, signs, and lines on road surfaces.
    • Cleans worksites, stores equipment, and tools and loads materials prior to departure 
    • from work site.

    Manager (Nursing Services)

    Job Purpose

    • To organise, lead, direct, control and coordinate Nursing functions, in order provide quality comprehensive Primary Health Care services, in accordance with relative health legislation.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    •  Manages and co-ordinates the Nursing service with a Primary Health Care Area.
    •  Provides a Personal health service together with other Departments both internally and externally.

    Head (Engineering)

    Job Purpose

    • To lead the Engineering Unit, thereby ensuring efficient and cost — effective provision and maintenance of Engineering infrastructure and services to ratepayers and residents of eThekwini in accordance with corporate strategy and policy.

    • Providing a road and minor Stormwater drainage design service and management of related contracts.
    • Directing the development, maintenance and upgrading of municipal infrastructure.

    • Developing public open spaces including verges and natural areas and providing landscape planning and design services to the City.

    • Providing professional architectural guidance and services to the eThekwini Municipality.
    • Project management (technical audit, monitoring expenditure and reporting) of the total infrastructure budget for all capital projects for the entire Municipality.

    • Consults and negotiates with Trade Unions on all matters (excluding corporate conditions of service and remuneration).

    Job Purpose

    • To provide an independent, objective audit assurance and consultancy service of the Municipality's Systems of Control, Policies, Procedures and Standards.

    Key Responsibility Areas

    •  Plan the specific audit in conformity with generally accepted auditing Standards.
    •  Conduct all encompassing audits (Risk and Compliance; Value for Money; Contract Auditing; Performance Management and Financial Auditing in accordance with the Cluster/Unit Audit Plan).
