    Senior Explosives Engineer

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To provide support to the Regional Business Manager: Sales and Mining Services in managing the customer sales accounts and Technical requirements to maximize short- and medium-term profitability of the company.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • To act as a direct link with the customer.
    • Building and sustaining sound business relationships
    • Managing team performance
    • Continuously monitor and provide feedback to the relevant line manager on market intelligence (what’s trending on the market), which form the base of identifying key strategic issues facing customer portfolios.
    • Differentiate the company’s’ service and products by identifying and implementing value adding activities beneficial to all customers.
    • Set and implement Key Account Management Plans to ensure achievement of the market and sales objectives.
    • Establish long term relationships with key decision makers and influencers on individual mines.
    • Provide excellent service on all aspects of explosive and accessory products and their uses, including auditing of product application and performance and giving recommendations to correct deficiencies.
    • Technical report writing and presentations on blast design, optimisations and recommendations/Blasting Technical support.
    • Coordinate various internal departments (Finance, Supply chain, Technical and Operations/Mining services) aspects to ensure customer requirements are met timeously.
    • Complaints from customers to be handled swiftly and competently to their satisfaction.
    • Determine and prepare the product sales budget, and in conjunction with the Regional Business Manager to decide the appropriate product mix to achieve maximum trading product, market share and other business parameters. 

    Requirements

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications:

    • B SC / B Tech Degree / National Higher Diploma in Mining Engineering / Explosives Management / Blasting Engineering and/or Equivalent
    • Opencast / Surface Blasting or Rock Breaker Certificate 
    • Drivers licence.

     EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 Years' minimum experience in mining open cast environment.

    Ops Chargehand

    Description

     Duties include; but are not limited to:

    • Assist mine personnel on on-the-job training (Technical support on DDS™ equipment & Charging-up
    • Provide information regarding Health & Safety of Enaex equipment to mine and Enaex employees
    • Assist mine personnel on on-the-job training (Technical support on DDS™ equipment & Charging-up
    • Assist Service Technician in maintenance of DDS™ Equipment
    • Density checks and records
    • Day to day inspections and minor repairs on DDS™ equipment
    • Oversee mine trained employee to do daily checklist. Mine employee to hand checklist to his mine supervisor.
    • First responder to breakdowns (All minor issues on shift)
    • Reporting on levels of DDS™ emulsions and delivery dates for emulsion
    • Offloading of the DDS ™ delivery tanker & weighbridge notes sign
    • Reporting on spares used and stock level to Service Technician
    • Report of spillages to mine personnel to arrange for clean-up
    • Report status of good housekeeping around silos to mine.
    • Daily reporting of findings in underground workings to Section Mine Overseer / Shift boss / Miner with regards to   - charging-up and drilling on the working areas he visited.
    • Communication with service Technician on status of DDS™ equipment.
    • Breakdown reports and feedback to M/O , HFO , Service Technician
    • Follow up on recommendations and implementation of proposals
    • Identify incorrect charging up practices
    • Conduct blast surveys according to the designed criteria
    • Demonstrate the charging up and connecting of all Enaex explosives products
    • Apply the use of the product as per the product application training
    • Apply the safe handling, storage and transport of explosives
    • Ensure correct PPE is used, as well as that PPE is in good condition and correctly worn/used
    • Maintain housekeeping of work area
    • Identify workplace hazards and associated risks and deal with it appropriately (Hirac & Risk Assessment)
    • Knowledge of relevant hand tools
    • Knowledge of emergency procedures
    • Comply with the Mine’s safety and health procedures
    • Attend the mine’s induction training
    • Maintain basic safety, health and environmental issues
    • Assess the product application practices
    • Identify incorrect product application practices
    • Demonstrate and coach the correct practices
    • Adhere to Enaex code of practice and procedures
    • Adhere to mine Health & Safety requirements

    Work according to the hours of 

    Requirements

    • Grade 12  
    • Underground Blasting Assistant Certificate and Competent B for underground (Advantage)
    • Basic Computer skills
    • Valid medical fitness certificate for UG Mines

    Experience:

    • 2-3 years working experience in underground.
